Salisbury NC Neighborhoods

Salisbury has historic homes within walking distance of downtown, established neighborhoods with mature trees, a golf community, and newer subdivisions on the edges of town. Here's a plain-English guide to the neighborhoods buyers ask me about most.

They're a starting point, not a quote. A Salisbury mailing address covers a lot of Rowan County outside the city limits. School assignments change, so always confirm with Rowan-Salisbury Schools for a specific address.

Historic neighborhoods near downtown

Salisbury has one of the larger collections of historic districts in the Charlotte region. If you want an older home with character and a short drive (or walk) to Main Street, start here.

Fulton Heights

A residential neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, with mostly early 20th-century houses. It has a strong neighborhood identity, right down to its own sign.

North Main Street

Listed on the National Register in 1985, this district follows North Main Street north of downtown and is lined with large older homes.

North Long Street–Park Avenue

Also listed in 1985. Expect Victorian and early 1900s houses, many with big front porches.

West Square and the Salisbury Historic District

The streets just west of downtown, around Ellis, Fulton and Horah Streets, have some of the oldest homes in the city, from Federal-style houses of the early 1800s to Queen Anne and Colonial Revival homes. The Salisbury Historic District (National Register, 1975) covers much of the historic core. Brooklyn–South Square (1985) is another listed district nearby.

Buying an older home? Budget for a thorough inspection and ask about the roof, wiring, plumbing and HVAC ages. In a historic district, exterior changes may also need city approval. I'll help you sort out what's charm and what's a big repair before you make an offer.

Milford Hills

1930s–2000sEstablished

An established neighborhood with homes built from the 1930s into the 2000s, so you'll see a real mix of ages and styles. It's a good place to look if you want an older home at a price near or below the city median.

Country Club Hills

Larger homesSmall HOA

Larger homes built from the early 1970s on, with a small HOA. A good fit for buyers who want more square footage without buying new.

Eagle Heights

1960s onMid-range

Homes built from the mid-1960s on, many of them single-story. A practical choice for first-time buyers and downsizers who want an established street.

Golf and newer neighborhoods

The Crescent

Golf communitySemi-private club

A golf community built around The Revival Golf Club at The Crescent, an 18-hole, semi-private course designed by John LaFoy that opened in 1998. Pinnacle Golf took over management of the club in September 2025.

The Reserve at the Country Club

2000s–2010s

Homes built from about 2001 to 2020. A good fit if you want a newer home in an established part of town.

Olde Salisbury

2000s3-bedroom homes

Built from about 2001 to 2021, mostly three-bedroom homes. Prices here have often come in below the city median, which makes it worth a look for first-time buyers.

The Village at Grants Creek

TownhomesFrom 2017

Townhomes and single-family homes built from 2017 on, for buyers who want something newer with less yard to keep up.

West Innes St

The streets around Catawba College (2300 W. Innes Street) have a mix of older homes and rentals. Faculty, staff and investors often look here.

Near Hurley Park

Annandale Ave

Hurley Park is an 18-acre city garden park at 304 Annandale Avenue, surrounded by established residential streets on the west side of town.

High Rock Lake

WaterfrontEast of town

High Rock Lake covers about 15,180 acres with roughly 360 miles of shoreline in Rowan and Davidson counties. Waterfront and water-access homes come up on the Rowan County side, east of Salisbury. Ask me about specific coves, water depth and any lease or HOA rules before you fall in love with a lake house.
